After taking six weeks of Semi-Private Groups during the Biggest Loser Contest and seeing a positive result, I decided to sign up for the Semi-private Groups at TLAC. I thought the first six weeks were tough. The trainers are slowly making it tougher each day. I'm losing weight. My belly is shrinking . I have lots more energy and stamina. My arms and legs are stronger. It has changed my personality. I'm more confident now. I even think better! I get more people telling me they can see the CHANGE...in my appearance, confidence and productivity.The best parts of group work outs are it's routine and fun,. Yes fun! I feel better, and I enjoy working out with all my new encouraging friends who have the same goal - get in better shape. The trainers are super! They are fun, caring, knowledgeable and constantly encouraging each person. All the trainers are good examples of what fitness and healthy eating can do. Everyone knows you by name. I love it at TLAC!

I joined TLAC in
January 2011. A friend told me about her experience with Ian and the variety of
classes, so I thought I would give it a try. I had always been athletic growing
up, but two kids and one broken leg later, I was at my heaviest, low energy,
and just unhappy. I started walking and participating in the group power class
and loved it, but found I needed something more. I met Ian McGriff, the fitness
director, and he said he would work with me. I was scared and skeptical…mainly
because of the pain in my leg and fear of not being able to do what was asked
of me. Ian’s words were, "I won’t ask you to do anything I don’t think you can
do.” So, I trusted him and boy am I glad I did. Fast forward ten weeks later, I
was almost 20 lbs. lighter and lost 15 inches of my body AND back to running.
That was just two times a week with Ian plus his homework and guidance. Fast
forward one year later, and I am one strong woman! I do the group functional
class and can push myself to do things I never thought possible! I’ve had the
chance to work out with Megan, Michele, John, and Danny. Everyone is
wonderful (I would be one of those people on the "Biggest Loser” that would cry
and complain that they took away my trainer!) Everyone takes the time to offer
advice on nutrition, fitness, personal well being, and how to overcome
plateaus. They truly care about your input and what you need to be your
absolute best! The whole staff, from the front desk to the trainers, treats you
like a friend. It’s like "Cheers” only a gym version J

didn’t really realize how different I looked until I saw those pics side by
side on Facebook. I’m pretty amazed with myself. I have never been
a person that liked going to the gym and couldn’t ever get into a
routine. For some reason in January of 2011 something clicked for me and
I knew I had to change something. I was unhappy with how I looked and
felt. My size 12s were getting extremely tight and there was no way I was
buying a size 14. My goal was to lose 20lb and be back in my size 10s
that had been at the top of my closet for over 4 years. I got into a routine
and was down my 20lb and in my size 10's by May 2011 with regular exercise and
nutrition. I was thrilled. But my routine was getting stagnant and I was
beginning to get bored with my gym effort. That is when I went to TLAC
looking for new exercises.They put me into the semi-private
training. I figured I would do it for a month then go it alone
again. No sir, after the month I was ADDICTED. I loved working out
with Michele and enjoyed the camaraderie of the other people in the
group. When Quentin came along I was skeptical as he was a new trainer
and I loved Michele. He has proved to be a great trainer also.
People have changed up in the group some but it has always been a blast.
I often complain during the session but it is all in good fun.I am
totally addicted.I far exceeded my expectations of 20lb and size
10. I lost 37lb and am now a size 6!!!! I’m thrilled. Thanks
to TLAC for pushing me. I’m very proud of myself and hope that I can
inspire other people to do the same."

My name is Teresa, I am 27 years old. I have been a member of
Tipton Lakes Athletic Club for 1 year. From the first moment I walked in
the door at TLAC I was overwhelmed with how friendly everyone was.
Megan, the receptionist greeted me with a smile, she was very
informative about the club, she showed me around the facility, and she
helped me sign up for a two week free trial. She also gave me a welcome
book that was very helpful. During my trial period, I found the same to
be true with everyone including the members. The staff is very
approachable and knowledgeable. They treat you with respect and are
non-judgmental. You don't always see this attitude in other fitness
clubs. The atmosphere is amazing, it is the friendliest fitness club
that I have ever belonged to, and this is why I decided to join. After I
completed my first 20 sessions of group training, I had lost 19 pounds
of weight, 20 pounds of body fat! And 5 inches from my waist! WOW! All
that in just 10 weeks. That doesn't even begin to show you how much
better I felt. I am more energetic, I have a higher self-esteem, and I
am happier. I also was running! By the end of the 10 weeks, it was
amazing! I highly recommend TLAC to anyone, and if you are someone who
feels like you need more help, stop by and see Ian McGriff. I know for a
fact that he will help you set your goals and come up with a way for
you to reach them.

Tipton Lakes Athletic Club has
helped my husband and I out tremendously in our weight loss. Bill and I
came to TLAC in Sept of 09 for a contest we heard on the radio we were
just hoping to win some money. That was our whole goal and the weight
loss would be just a little bonus for us. While doing the contest TLAC
helped transform how we thought. We stopped doing the contest to win the
money and switched our goal to the ultimate goal to be happier and
healthier for our 3 kids. We were both quite a bit over weight and I
myself was out of breath walking to the top of our stairs at our home.
We talked to the staff about our nutrition and the things we needed to
change with that. That alone has helped us be successful! With their
help my husband is down 55 lbs and I am down 25lbs. Still on occasion
when I find myself getting down about a plateau or a bad day TLAC has a
way of picking me back up and getting me right back on track!

James Barrie said, "Those who bring sunshine
into the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves.” Tipton Lakes
Athletic Club is proof that Barrie was spot on. I've never seen a more
positive, uplifting, or inspirational place in my life. I could talk all
day about my new hot booty or how I just signed up to run my first 5K,
but working at TLAC has given me so much more than that. Their faith and
confidence constantly motivates me to better myself, to push harder, to
never settle. TLAC has helped me realize I CAN and WILL be the
extraordinary person I strive to be, not just the ordinary person it's
easy to be. I could never thank them enough – They are my ray of
sunshine. Oh, and I also really love how my arms no longer jiggle when I
wave.
