Rahman Smiely
Rahman is a U.S.P.T.R. certified tennis professional.  Prior to arriving at Tipton Lakes Athletic Club the beginning of September 2006 he was the head tennis professional at the Bronx International Youth Tennis Center in Bronx, NY.  Having grown up in NJ, Rahman was a nationally ranked junior player who also while attending Newark Academy was a part of a high school team which went undefeated during his four years in high school.  Rahman was also NJ State Singles winner in 1997 and a finalist in 1998.  Upon graduation, he attended Indiana University where during his four years the team achieved a national rankings peaking at #21 and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2000.  Individually, Rahman played first doubles all 4 years achieving a ranking of #20 in the nation.  In singles play, he played throughout the line-up eventually playing 1st an 2nd singles his senior year achieving a national ranking of #64, while also being the team captain.  After leaving IU, Rahman played on the ATP tour achieving a ranking of # 1286 in singles and # 1124 in doubles.  Rahman still currently holds an ATP ranking of # 1528.
